Sand Filled MUGA Surfacing
Astro turf sand filled MUGA surfacing is a popular sports facility which can be used for a number of different sports on the same surfacing, whilst keeping up the playing characteristics and performance required by sports governing bodies.
Sand Filled MUGA Specifications
Astroturf or 2G all weather artificial synthetic grass can be specified and designed to have sand as an infill as this can help with system porosity / drainage, help with shock absorption and to keep the pile of the grass carpet upright. There are two types of 2G sports pitch surfacing which have a sand infill layer installed: sand filled MUGA and sand dressed MUGA. Both of these specifications are very common in the UK as they can house multi sports, football, tennis and hockey can all be played on the sand filled MUGA, whereas the sand dressed synthetic surfacing has a shorter pile height which is ideal for just hockey.
Sand filled MUGA / kickabout court dimensions and specifications are not restricted to certain sizes, they can be constructed and built to suit many different budgets and requirements and can also be installed to different sizes such as 65m x 30m & 20m x 40m. Sports floodlighting and super rebound fencing is also part of the full sand filled MUGA construction and these can be added to ensure that extra revenue is bought in and the system can start paying for itself. Other types of ball court surfaces are available and each specification suits different sports, Asphalt Tar Macadam & EPDM Rubber Polymerics are some examples which are very commonly used in the UK.
