Javelin Runway Specification, Design, Costs
Javelin runways have a specific specification and design but they can be adapted to suit most cost requirements and budgets. The standard specification will meet IAAF and UK Athletics standards but other designs in the javelin will suit any other project which has budget and costing restrictions. The standard width of a IAAF specific javelin run up will be 4.3m width. It has a standard minimum length of 30m which can go to a maximum of 36.5m. The javelin is also designed with a throwing arc which has a radius of 8m.
Javelin runways are designed and constructed with 50mm wide white lines and the runway has 2 sets of lines which are parallel and 4m apart. The javelin runway surfacing is made from Polymeric recycled rubber and this is also known as Tartan surfacing or EPDM recycled sprayed rubber.
