Multi use sports pitches can come in many forms and have many different types of sports surfacing. These sports surfaces can include 3G all weather Astroturf artificial grass, Polymeric EPDM rubber & Asphalt Tar macadam.

There are 2 forms of surfacing maintenance, pro active and reactive but it is considered that reactive can be the most damaging to the performance and aesthetics of the sports surface. Artificial astro – turf sand filled / sand dressed pitches often have algae problems, infill compaction issues, poor joints and foreign objects in the infill all caused by a lack of pro active maintenance.

Pro active sports pitch maintenance simply means planning for something in advance to ensure that it stays in the best condition possible. Reactive maintenance means that you are trying to fix the problems after they have occurred, often due to a lack of planning or maintenance. Maintenance can come in many forms.
