What are 3G Pitches?
3G pitches are synthetic sports areas with a sand and rubber infill which are mainly suited to football and rugby. At Soft Surfaces, we have many years experience in the sports surfacing industry and have installed 3G pitches all over the country.
3G Synthetic Grass Explained
Please see a short video below which explains 3G synthetic grass in more detail.
Please see transcript below:
00:00 Hi, guys, this is Dan from Soft Surfaces here and today we’re going to be answering the question, what are 3G pitches?
00:05 So 3G pitches are essentially an artificial grass solution to a natural sport’s pitch, and these are fantastic for playing, both, football and rugby on due to their sands and rubber infill.
00:16 3G turf is available in different specifications and depths, depending on the sport on that what you require. This can be discussed at the acquiring stage. It’s an all-year, porous surface, and we can actually install the line map over both sports and make it a multi-purpose facility, that can be used for, both, rugby and football.
00:33 Here at Soft Surfaces, we have over 20 years of experience installing 3G pitches at sports clubs, schools, professional football teams, and many other locations across the UK. So if you’d like a 3G pitch installed, please feel free to contact us at www.softsurfaces.co.uk.
3G Sub Base
We are able to install the 3G on a variety of sub-bases including tarmac or compacted stone. Another option is we then can add a shock-pad underneath the synthetic surface. This is to add comfort and in some cases to comply with governing body regulations. The shock-pad is especially useful as the two most common sports played on 3G are football and rugby. Actions like sliding or tackling can cause injuries on a hard surface, so the shock-pad is to reduce the risks.
For more information on what 3G surfaces are and where they can be installed, please get in touch today and a member of our team can discuss this in more detail.
