Recolouring Sports Court Surfaces

If you have a tarmac or polymeric sports court, you may be interested in details regarding recolouring sports court surfaces. Recolouring your sports surface is recommended in order to keep the area looking new and performing well.

A number of sports facilities can be recoloured including tennis courts, netball surfaces, MUGA facilities and many more. By repainting sports court surfaces you can dramatically enhance the overall look and play of the area as well as improve the slip resistance of the surfacing.

If you wish to improve the appearance and performance of your facility, make sure to get in touch with one of our professionals now and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

Sports Court Cleaning

Before painting the court it is vital to have the surface cleaned professionally. We will not be able to guarantee the painting unless we have carried out the cleaning ourselves.

The reason that professional cleaning is so important is that the surfacing needs to be completely removed from all dirt prior to painting. This is because if we paint over a dirty court the paint could come away with the dirt.

When carrying out the cleaning process, we will remove all dirt and debris by giving the surface a thorough power wash. We will then out down a chemical treatment to help prevent moss and algae.

MUGA Sports Court Maintenance

If you are interested in MUGA sports court maintenance and would like to see an example of the work we can carry out, make sure to see the video below.

This is a job we carried out in Oxford for a college. This tennis court also had line markings for netball installed too making the area a multi use games area.

As you can see from the video above, the MUGA facility was completely transformed after the recolouring. The red and green is a popular choice along with two-tone green. If you wish to have a unique colour design, just make sure to speak to one of our experts and we will be able to offer advice.

MUGA Facility Repairs

If you have any cracks or minor damages on the MUGA facility, we would recommend getting minor repairs carried out prior to recolouring sports court surfaces. This is because the painting can hide the repairs.

With regards to the MUGA facility repairs available, we use a special polyurethane binder mixed with 3mm emerald stone to fill the cracks. We can also install a polyurethane binder coating to help prevent fretting and help strengthen the surface. A polyurethane binder can also help the paint stick to the surface better.

Anti Slip Colour Coating

Once the cleaning and repairs have been completed we can then start to colour coat the court. This can be carried out in your desired colour. The non-slip paint is recommended for sports courts where players will be running around.

Recolouring is applied to multi-use games areas to provide good slip resistance. The colour coating will also give a nice colourful finish. Various designs can be created by choosing different inner and outer court colours.

We can install anti-slip acrylic coating for macadam courts or non-slip polyurethane paint for polymeric courts. Both our paints are porous which means water can drain through easily and you will not be left with puddles all over your surface which could make play dangerous.

We make sure to use a minimum of 2 coats on the surfacing to ensure the paint is thick enough. If only one coat is instaled the paint could come away easier or look less attractive.

If you would like to find out more about macadam painting or polymeric colour coating, please get in touch now using the contact form provided.

Enquire Now

Make sure to enquire now if you would like your court colour coated sometime soon. The painting season starts in March, as these works need to be carried out in dry conditions. If the weather is wet the sports surface coatings cannot be installed; this is because it is a moisture cure binder paint.
